Art Creations by Conners

I am a self taught artist, who enjoys the charcoal medium. I strive for the realistic look to my work.
I work mainly from photographs of a variety of subjects. I work full-time as a Sergeant with the Placer Co. Sheriff's office. When I find the time I enjoy creating new original work. My greatest joy is the commissioned work. I like working with my client to preserve a memory, or make a new one by combining pictures to create a new image.

Officer Bradley Moody

Description

I was honored when the family of Officer Bradley Moody wanted me to draw a portrait of Bradley and his K-9 partner. Officer Moody died in the line of duty in October 2008. He worked for Richmond Police Dept. His name was added to the Sacramento Peace Officers Memorial on May 8th, 2009. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Moody family. The footprints represent Bradley and his K-9 walking together and then the passing of one as the other moves on. I added the footprints in the sand poem for the final framed picture.

Artist Statement

My goal is to show how charcoal can reach a high quality of realism. I enjoy testing myself to become a better artist and come up with new ideas. I am new to the art world. I have been drawing all my life but I have only taken my art to the professional level for the last two years. I mainly work from photographs that I have taken myself to keep the originality pure.

My greatest joy is my commissioned work. I love working with my clients to preserve a special time in there lives or to create a new image using multiple pictures and combining them together to create a unique piece of artwork that no one else possess.

Public Art Media

I specialize in the charcoal medium. My main materials are a charcoal pencil, blending stump and an eraser.

Previous Projects

My latest piece of work will be showing at the "Art at the Classic" art show at the Nevada Co. Fairgrounds.

This is the biggest piece of artwork I have created, to date, in my career. I drew a 3 ft wide by 6 ft tall draft horse, working many hours to complete this piece.

One of my future goals is to complete a series of large scale pieces showing the American Indians of California.

Educational Background

I have no formal education in art other than art classes at Placer High School.
