Darlene Engellenner
As a sculptor, I started to create collage as a means of doing two dimentional work in a three-dimentional form. My work is done with many layers and textures while creating action and movement. The art is based on organic, primitive subjects found in nature and personal experiences. Recently, I returned to do some sculptures in bronze, zonostone and ceramic and use the same method of creation with them. Having studied art for years under several well-known artists, the education has added to my creative processes with the use of new materials and techniques. Most viewers are surprised to find new elements in the collages as they examine them closely. With the use of bright colors and textures the work takes on a life of its own.
My hope is that you will enjoy looking at what has been created.

Previous Public Art Projects Yes Public, Private or Both Several private commissions completed and selected to work with SIerra Gardens School for their art project. I have maquetttes for large sculptures for bronze work to be completed and installed by the Sacramento Bronze Foundry. Artist Statement Public art should have some meaning to the location of the art. It should be well thought out as to comparative size of the surroundings and color and texture to the location. It must be well executed in quality and if it can add a little joy or intrigue so much the better. I do enjoy public art that has some individual style and unusual approach. Public Art Media Maquettes are in 3 dimensional bronze. The two dimensional work is done with collage, acrylic and blockprints as represented in the work above Previous Projects No public project to date, but I have had education in the area of bronze sculpture and know what to do with the project once it has been approved. The foundry in Sacramento does the entire project with the artist as an instructor. On the collage work I have had several large commissions completed and installed. Ceramic sculpture is simple enough. Educational Background Attend Sierra College for years while working full time. Studied with several well known artists and they have given me a lot of inspiration to continue my work in the public art area. So here I am. |
